The Leedahls Update – April 19, 2015

11150395_10152881443082252_6668565469531007953_nAnd he’s at it again! Jon flew the helicopter today!!!! The first time in over a year. Can’t keep him out of the air! He was pretty excited about this flight. Big smiles for this one.

It’s been nice to be “home.” Yes even though we feel a bit like gypsies, Jon’s parent’s farm has always been where we stay between training & travels.

Coming back to the familiar has helped in the next steps of recovering. Jon’s back in his home turf! Thanks for praying for us as we transition. Going from PNG to Australia and then to the US. It all takes adjusting. Rest & grace being key words to figuring out life again.

We are just so thankful to everyone who is still faithfully praying for us! Continue to pray for healing & strength for Jon. Pray with us for wisdom, endurance & faithfulness to finish well this journey that God has put in front of us. Thank you guys!

“But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.” (I Peter 5:10 NKJV)

We do continue to pray–not quite as intensively as before, but your pictures are up on the cabinet doors in our office, and we continue to remember your journey.

Hi there Jon and Adie! It is wonderful that Jon can fly again! Hallelujah! We have been praying for your recovery Jon and also for your precious sweet family. I just smiled when I saw you in the cockpit! We learned about you from Brent and Erica. We at Grace Community Church in Lake Forest CA first met Brent and Erica Haberchak when they came to our church for support. I think it was when they were going to Arizona for short landings and take offs. around 2012. Thru another church Christ Community in Laguna Hills a few miles away contacted Fritz Chambers who has his own Cesena plane. {which he loaned to Brent for his night flying credentials.] They asked if we were interested in learning about the Haberchaks. Of course we did and have supported them with much prayer and financial support. Our Pastor Sean is Youth, Career and Missions leader and Pastor Ryan, our Music Worship leader grew up in Christ community and helped to lead Brent to the Lord. After Brent received his training he took a job flying a King Air and dropping sterile med flies’ over Southern California. They came to Grace during and thru year they were preparing to go to Papua New Guinea. We really enjoyed getting to know them. I understand that they grew up in this area of south Orange county. As Brent was leaving his piloting and thru Fritz, Paul a young graduate of San Diego Christian College 4 year Aviation School got his first flying job. Later Brent came back and flew as the 1st officer to Paul for a little while. Paul is in Minneapolis training for Compass Air a sub of Delta. After his training he will be flying from LAX. Paul will eventually will fly the big jets maybe for Delta. You probably know all this, my heart* told me to write to you. *{Holy Spirit} Fritz is in contact with Brent [emails and phone] and keeps us on the Mission Ministries Team updated on Brent and Erica and Jon and Adie and your sweet and wonderful family. We get reports from Fritz on how both families are doing. You probably know that Brent got a new twin engine Otter from MAF so he is on loan from NTM for a year. We are praying for his stress level flying over rough terrain and weather. Bless your hearts. For many years we have supported another MAF family in Kazakhstan. We are praying for you all and keep up the good work! We have an AWESOME GOD! Many Blessings Helen Pettit Missions Team @ Grace Community.Church of Saddleback Valley

I am a friend of Lance and Laura Ostman, and have been watching and praying for you. I wanted to encourage you in your recovery by pointing you to an RAF flier by the name of Douglas Bader. He played a major part in the Battle of Britain, and did it all with no legs. He outflew the men whom he led, and gave them all courage to excel. Blessings to you

Thankfully Lance and Laura Ostman have shared your journey through Facebook. Although I have never met ya’ll, I have prayed and cried along with ya’ll. I am excited to see what God’ has planned for ya’ll in the days ahead.

What a thrill to know that Jon was able to fly again–loved seeing his smile after all he has been through! What a beautiful illustration of Philippians 1:6 New International Version (NIV):

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Praising! Praising! Praising!!! God is sooooo good!!!

Paul said in Romans 8:37, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” What does it mean to be more than a conqueror? A conqueror is one that overcomes. As Christians, we are more than conquerors because Jesus has overcome the world. We operate out of victory – the battle is already won!

Continuing to pray and will continue to. God is doing great things for you and your family. He is walking you through this and will continue to do so. You have been such an example for Christ and all that he is doing in and through you. Praising God for his goodness, mercy and grace!

Praise the Lord for the awesome things He is doing. What a wonderful adventure again for you to fly the helicopter. All of you continue to be in my prayers. God bless you richly and lead you in amazing ways. I’m friends of Steve and Tracy Geis.

I just wanted you to know that I have been following your story and praying for you all since the accident. One of my best friends is LeAnna Finsaas. I assume you probably know her and Ray, her hubby, from your time in PNG. I am so thankful for the wisdom and strength God has given you to be on this journey over many ‘turfs’. I am thankful for the Holy Spirit that continues to minister to you so you can continue to ask “What next?'”, instead of getting stuck on the “Why?” Your testimony will continue to give glory to God alone. Thank you for allowing us to be part of it through prayer.

Share your encouragement here...
