The Leedahls Update – March 20, 2015

Feeling groggy as I write this, getting over some jet lag. We are just so thankful for Uncle Pat and Aunt Dawn who’ve made our first 2 days so welcoming and just a place of retreat so we can get adjusted to life back in the States! Love you guys!!

As you can imagine, we didn’t sleep well last night, anticipating our first day at Mayo Clinic. I think it was a nervous excitement and curiosity of what these docs would say.

Starting at 8 a.m. we had a busy morning that stretched into all afternoon of paperwork, X-rays, MRI, blood tests, and visits with the Ortho specialist and Plastic Surgeon. (And btw Mayo Hospital is just beautiful!!)

The docs were very impressed with the work that Dr Bryceson has done on Jon’s left leg. Saying the surgeries he’s done were pretty tricky to do. What a comfort to see our trusted & well-loved doctor getting kudos from these guys. Thanking God for giving us excellent care while in Cairns!

Leedahls - 032015The Mayo docs would like to get Jon in for surgery on Monday morning. They were surprised that Jon isn’t sick or showing any signs of infection since his wounds are deep. His inside stump wound is now touching the bone. There are signs of inflammation around the bone, but it looks like it hasn’t gotten inside the bone. Praise God!!

The plan of action is to open up Jon’s old incisions, clean up the dead tissue in the stump, and look things over, leaving his stump open to drain with a surgery for possibly Wednesday (2 days later) to close it up again.

Pray for Jon especially this weekend for peace of mind and heart as he preps for yet another couple of surgeries. Pray for guidance of the doctors hands as they operate. Thank you!!

Excited for sleep. Goodnight, folks!

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. (II Timothy 1:7, 12 NKJV)”
