The Leedahls Update – Leaving Australia

Saying goodbyes are so hard! How can we even begin to say thank you to ALL of the Cairns folks that have welcomed us in and loved on our family during this time? We are beyond blessed to have been able to begin our healing process in this beautiful place with such beautiful friends!

We’ve also really enjoyed being in a place where folks traveling to and from PNG often stop. It’s helped so much to still feel connected to all of our missionary friends.

But the time has come to move on, take the next step in our journey, and head back to the States. We fly out tomorrow at 5:30 a.m.

Jon’s mom Cam flew out here on Monday to help us and she hasn’t stopped packing and organizing since she arrived. She is a Godsend, helping me pack up five months worth of our life in our limited luggage allowance. But she’s a pro packer!

Leedahls - 031715 - 02We’re sad to leave so many great nurses at the hospital, home health nurses, and Dr Bryceson. We had a great team working with us–you’ll all be missed!

Pray for us dear ones!! We have a 30 hr. trip ahead of us. For those folks wanting to visit us when we arrive we might be a mess and need a couple days at least to recover, but we are so looking forward to seeing family and friends and to meet our new medical team.

Goodbye, Australia, thanks for the memories!!

“The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:6, 7, 9 NKJV)

You will be prayed for. Austrailia’s loss is our gain. Our prayer will be for healing, wisdom for the Mayo medical team, patience for you, and clear direction and timing of the next chapter.

Plus, you will be closer to Mason City, IA!!!! Yeah!

It IS hard to leave the people God put in your lives “for such a time as this.” I will continue praying. I note the beautiful family picture you posted, and while we lament the loss of a limb, I look at the fact that Jon is IN the photo, when he was actually so close to leaving this earth a few months ago. The family picture would look very different. I am SO grateful for God choosing more time on earth for him. LOOK how WE all have been blessed by his courage and testimony, and the steadfast faith, ministrations and communicating of Adie. Praying for journey mercies, quick recovery , and wisdom for the team at Mayo. More mission field.

Well Jon & Adie you are on your way home with the boys. We have been praying for you and will continue to do so. Its always hard saying goodbye, but just think of the friends you have made in your time there. God is good he never leaves us or forsakes. We will be praying for this next chapter in your life, you know are life is like a jigsaw puzzle we only see some of the picture as its made but God sees the whole picture, He didn’t make any mistakes. God bless for now. Love and prayers. Geoff. & Gwen

  8. Praying for you here in Ireland. Trusting all goes well for you on your long journey. How precious to be part of God’s family and to know He is going before you. Psalm 121 is the Psalm my Dad always read before we travelled. We know He will watch over you as you move on.May you know is sustaining peace and strength. greetings Ruth and Gordon

Prayers for all of you as you begin this journey back to the States!! We have been to Papua New Guinea in 2005…….we stayed with our daughter & son-in-law who were on the base in Madang. Our daughter’s 12 yr. old daughter has a prosthetic and it is good that you will be at the Mayo Clinic!! Our granddaughter had excellent surgeons from Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Probably ‘key’ to everything is finding a prosthetist (spelling??) who REALLY listens to you and one who will work with your personality. We will continue to pray for you in the ‘next step’ at Mayo. Thank you so much for your updates. We praise the Lord for HIS perfect plan that continues to be worked out in your lives. Indeed, HE is simply giving you a different ‘mission field’ for this new ‘season’ in your lives.

“Blessed is the man who TRUSTS in the LORD and whose Trust IS the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will NOT fear WHEN the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield FRUIT.”
    Jer. 17:7, 8

I will be praying that your new medical team can help ensure the complete healing of the stump. It must be frustrating to have treatment after treatment due to infection etc.
