The Leedahls Update – Feb. 4, 2015

Tonight Jon & I both have racing hearts and gurgly tummies as we anticipate Jon’s surgery tomorrow.
Anxious. Nervous. Distracted.

We had Jon’s rehab appt which went well. His Physical Therapist is happy with his progress. Followed by his pre-operation appt today to fill out paperwork, meet with docs, do blood work, etc.

Jon has had six surgeries up until this point and each one he was drugged up pretty good. This is the first one where Jon has had time to think about, try to prepare, and have time to get nervous.

10351611_10152729564902252_9106034104055282239_nDocs will explore Jon’s stump, after injecting it with dye to see where there could be possible problem areas: fluid pockets that could lead to future infection. Cut away the tissue that is not healing under his open wound. They will try to leave it open enough to allow for healing from the inside out.

Pray with us family & friends tonight and especially tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. (Aussie time) when Jon’s scheduled for surgery. Some of our anxieties are: docs finding bigger issues once inside, needing to cut away significant dead muscle tissue, being under general anesthetic. Our minds go all over the place with endless, “what ifs.”

Amazing as Jon and I sat sharing breakfast this morning I opened up the verse of the day to read:

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6, 7 NKJV)”

God knows what we need just when we need it! This a familiar & popular verse that is thrown around a lot. But it is TRUTH, you guys!

We are handing over Jon’s stump, his life, and this surgery to God, trusting He will accomplish all that He’s got planned for Jon.

Thank you all for your emails, Facebook messages, and texts checking in on us today!! We are so blessed to have an amazing network of people caring for us, praying for us & loving on us. Was SO blessed by our sweet friends who brought a meal & babysat Jace. And for our friends who so happily go pick up our oldest boys from school! God is good!!

“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10 NKJV)

As I begin to write this it is 5:00 am, Feb. 5th your time.  After reading your latest post and praying for ALL of you, I really hope Jon didn’t have to endure bad news after his surgery.  Please do keep us informed as you are in our prayers constantly.  And Adie, as a wife and as a mom (although my children are grown) my heart goes out to you as well as my prayers.  You too have endured so much, being a wife, a mom, a homemaker, a nurse and I am sure even more.  My prayer for you is for strength as you go through so many things.  What a beautiful Bible verse that the Lord led you to before surgery and one that holds so much truth and hope.

I will continue to pray for you all.  Be strong my friend for in all this God does have a plan.

Blessings,  Beth Florio Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Praying all goes well with the surgery, and that there will be complete healing. Also for the rest of the family as they wait for news. God Bless.

God bless you, precious servants of Jesus.

  11. Praying for you tonight and TRUSTING God will bring you through. The reason I have not written is my left breast was diagnosed with Angiosarcoma due to having had previous radiation. So if you don’t hear for awhile, I may be having surgery etc. I’m 78 so have a lot of people praying for me. I had so many of the same issues to worry about in my surgery as you all have. Was amazing how alike we think.

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose trust IS the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will NOT fear WHEN the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will NOT be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.” Jer. 17:7, 8 Precious ones, may you find His Grace and His Strength to be ALL-sufficient for this next ‘chapter’ of HIS-story written in your lives. With love and prayers, Linda
