The Leedahls Update – Jan. 27, 2015

One full week and it seems time is just flying by! The beginning of February is just around the corner & with it will come some visits from some really dear friends & some medical procedures.

But first, some folks have asked how we are REALLY doing. Well guys, imagine a loved one losing a limb. Now think of all the thoughts possible that would go through your minds: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then throw in a wide range of emotions, mixed with fatigue from it all. I’d say in a nutshell that’s about how we are feeling. Curious too, to see what God has in mind exactly.

As my sweet friend said to me these are what we would call the “unsolvables.” And yet, as we read in God’s word: God knows all, sees all & allows all for His purposes–and we may never fully understand in this lifetime.

“If I had not felt certain that every additional trial was ordered by infinite love and mercy, I could not have survived…” — Judson, early missionary

Medical Report:

Jon L - 012715Today Dr Bryceson had the plastics team come in to review Jon’s slow-to-heal stump wound. As Jon has suspected, there are possible underlying fluid pockets that are causing the wound to just not want to close up. On Feb. 5th Jon will go in for an exploratory surgery to see what’s going on. He has dead muscle tissue in there and the fluid pockets would mean places where bacteria could cause infection.

Docs needs to clean up in there & it might be a large chunk taken out, or he’s hopeful it won’t be too bad in there. But we won’t know until they can get inside. Eventually they need to take the skin graft out of his stump so they can close his stump completely. That might take 1-2 surgeries to do that shortly after his surgery next week.

As you can imagine Jon was discouraged today & says this week may be hard for him to keep positive. Please pray hard for him this week, you guys!!! Pray for peace of mind for Jon, for rest in God’s capable hands, pray for wisdom for the doctors.

Jon is very quick to tell the nursing staff his story as they ask. He tells them, “I have a strong faith in my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ and He is the one getting me through this.”

To God be ALL glory & none in ourselves for it is Him that works in us otherwise we’d be a big mess right now. Taking it day by day. Moment by moment. We are so glad we have this media to be able to share our prayer requests with you all!!

“For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.” (Psalms 86:10-11, 15)

Jon and Adie, You continue to be much in my prayers and thoughts. The Lord brings you to mind at so many different hours including the middle of the night. He knows what you need at those special times. May He fill Jon with His mighty words of encouragement and may Jon feel His peace and comfort in ways he’s never felt them before. He is such a mighty God and He never changes. We can see the may miracles He did in the Old Testament and He can still do miracles today!! May He fill your hearts with joy overflowing today. May He give you good rest. Will continue to lift you up to our Almighty Father.
