The Leedahls Update – Jan. 2, 2015

It’s a HUGE day for us guys…..drumroll….Jon was discharged as an outpatient today!!!!!!!!!! He will go back in for visits once a week. We worked on paperwork & discussing at home care & he cut his arm band off!

After some discussions between docs & the wound care nurse, the vac was decided to be removed, I was taught wound care & then Jon went all day without the vac. What fun to be free of wires & pumps finally!!!

Jon L - 010215We had a great lunch with Michelle Thompson & Steven Steven Thompson & PNG’s personnel director Phil & Fiona Emery. We had to go back into the hospital to pick up Jon’s meds & discharge papers only to discover the head doctor said the vac must go back on again. What a bummer after all the excitement. But, as Jon says,”It is what it is.” Good grief, I love this man–he is so positive!!

We ended our evening with dinner with our dear friends Jonie Mellinger & Jason Mellinger & their girlies. We met them during our training at the missionary training center where they are on staff. These folks are on their way to PNG to help our fellow NTM church planting classmates finish building their houses. Excited for all the work they will do for our dear friends in PNG!! It’s a bittersweet excitement as we wish we could be working alongside these guys. But have learned to embrace that this is not what God has for us right now.

Pray for us to finish well this journey/race God has put before us right now. Learning to trust Him that this is His perfect plan for us.

“He alone is my rock and my savior—my stronghold. I cannot be shaken. My salvation and my glory depend on God. God is the rock of my strength, my refuge. Trust him at all times, you people. Pour out your hearts in his presence. God is our refuge. Selah” Psalms 62:6-8 GW)

Hi Jon and Adie, You don’t know me, but I have been following you with my prayers. Thank you for the updates. They help to know how to pray. As you take on the new and unexpected challenges of 2015, may God comfort your hearts over the disappointments, reminding you that He sympathizes with your weaknesses. May He fill your hearts with hope and joy as you look forward to the way He is going to empower you to overcome those challenges in a way that will bless you and glorify Him. Nita Zelenak

We are so thankful that Jon is able to leave the hospital! We will pray about the wound vac and other aspects of recovery.. May God’s grace and peace guard and keep you as you enter this new phase of a journey you never planned to take. Even in this way the word of the Lord sounds forth from you in every place. Dear Jon and Aide,
How exciting!!! Such awesome news!! Praise God!! We read your updates with great anticipation to see how it’s going and how you all are doing – and we pray constantly for you! It’s been such a difficult and heart-wrenching journey – but you have chosen to believe God, believe HIS truths and trust HIS promises each day!!! Your testimony is pointing thousand of people to Jesus!! You gave your lives to be a part of a team that are pointing people to HIM, but you never imagined that THIS would be part of the plan!!! But God choose YOU ( all 5 of you) to be HIS ambassadors to demonstrate HIS faithfulness and grace to the world thru this! Thank you for being so faithful and walk in HIS ways each day!!!

Hang in there!!! Be faithful with daily wound care and using the wound vac!!!! Complete healing of Jon’s stump is in sight! How awesome is that!!! All of us nurses are cheering you on to full and complete healing!! I do a lot of wound care in my job at the nursing home and I can not emphasize enough the importance of faithful daily wound care!!! It’s so awesome to watch how a wound heals – it becomes a worship experience for me because I know that it is GOD who made our bodies and designed all the functions of it!! I LOVE seeing how it is all designed to work and how the body can heal itself! It is part of GOD’S incredible design!

So I just want to encourage you to continue to be faithful in this journey that God has you on! You are an awesome testimony to the world – being a light and showing JESUS!!

We love you and pray for you constantly!

Father God, We ask you to give the Leedahls a restful sleep tonight. We pray that tomorrow would be a day of peace, calm, joy and purpose. We thank you for all your many blessings and for your grace. We thank you that you are ever present and ever faithful. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Jon, Adie and boys. It seems like we know you after reading all your blogs. We have prayed for you since we heard about the accident. We know it has been a very difficult time for you all. But you keep smiling in your pictures. Can you receive a program download? I could send you an encouraging one. As a family we have gone through a difficult two years. Our only granddaughter, Anna died as a result of an accident when she was 15. She lived a full time before she died and served God well. God is helping us through this time, but we miss her. She only hit her head in the car her mother was driving and damaged her brain. Do you know my cousin Phil Lundberg? I think he met you in PNG.

Hopefully you will get that vac back off soon. God’s blessing on you both.
