The Leedahls Update – Nov. 22, 2014

The day started for Adie, Candy Burns, and Cam Leedahl with a gift from Joy Palmer: a deluxe pedicure (called pedicare in Australia). It felt good to be pampered and do some girl talk. Joy and Peter Palmer stopped in Cairns for the weekend to be of encouragement to Jon and Adie. They go on to PNG on Tuesday where they serve other missionaries in member care. Thank you, Joy, for the treat!

This evening, while most of you were sleeping, the Leedahls enjoyed a traditional American Thanksgiving meal at the home of Jonathan and Candy Burns. There were 15 adults and 19 children and enough food for twice that many! Joining us were NTM families from PNG: Ben and Nikki Buckner and Pete and Joy Palmer; and from Trinity Baptist Church: Steve and Katie Dichenko, Steve and Christie Mock, and Matt and Nichole, whose last name we cannot remember (sorry!). And all their children. A happy, noisy bunch, we talked and laughed, and shared testimonies of God’s goodness in our lives.

Jon came via wheelchair taxi — actually, a minibus with a lift that can also accommodate his extended leg. It was wonderful that he could be part of the festivities. He was doped up to the max to be able to handle the outing. After two hours, he was quite spent and needed to go back. At the end of the night, he is not feeling well. He didn’t feel well last night, either. Perhaps he pushed himself too far. Perhaps there is something going on in his body as his skin graft is suddenly manifesting some nasty-looking discharge.

Please pray that Jon’s body will strengthen and that he will be able to fight off any infection that may threaten him. Pray that his pain level will remain manageable. And pray that Jon and Adie will continue to be encouraged in the Lord.

“Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things.” Psalm 103:2,4

Praying for you from East TN!

Praying daily for you each of you. Even though we have never met, you are special to us because of several reasons. First of all you are our brother & sister in Christ. Secondly we know others serving in the area (I was Shara Moritz 1st & 2nd grade teacher), and as I read your post about Pete & Joy Palmer, I had to smile. My husband Tom & I bought Pete’s parents house in Oregon a little over 11 years ago. We so appreciate the regular updates, and know you must be exhausted in many ways, but know that you have literally hundreds of your family in Christ, praying for you! We will continue to pray for peace, rest, wisdom, and strength for each of you and for special healing for you, Jon, and for precious memories for your sons and yourselves, as you ‘receive His love from His children.’
