Jon Leedahl Update – Nov. 6, 2014 @ 3:54 p.m. CT

Jon goes to physical therapy every day to help build back up his strength and get him ready for when he can walk with crutches in the future. Boy, is he a strong man! It is strange to see him out of bed and seeing his leg gone though. Still wrapping my head around it all.

I asked Jon if it hurts him to do these exercises and he says no. I think his old workouts with Seth Isaac Stokes and Andrew Sanford back at the mission training center have helped Jon. The doctors say he’s very fit!

He has such a determined attitude “to do this!” Pray for him as doctors watch his process and determine the next steps for Jon’s recovery.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” (1 Timothy 2:1 KJV)

“You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me… I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” (Psalms 139:5, 14 NKJV)

  3. Duane and Marian Lundberg

Marian’s brother Gordon Moritz’s son Bryan is a missionary in PNG. You probably know his family. I am a retired Evangelical Free Church pastor of 49 years. We are retired, but very active in ministry. We live in Boone, Iowa. We have been praying for you as a family and as a church since we heard about your accident. After reading all your blogs we feel we know you. We will continue to pray for you in the days to com. Duane & Marian Lundberg,

Great news to read…we (my husband & myself) and my mum have been keeping up to date on what’s happening. Saw you out on the Esplanade while we were having tea there tonight and thought how wonderful it was that you can enjoy that “freedom” from the 4 walls of the hospital. God is indeed good at giving you a wonderful hospital location.

  6. Dear Jon,
We are a home schooling family with lots of exposure to NTM. Through Facebook we came to know of your plight and have been praying for you ever since your accident. We will continue to pray as you recover–keeping in step with the Spirit.
    Cordially,

Praying for Jon and his strength, attitude, and encouragement. Praying for Adie and the boys also.

  8. Susan (Barton) Strong

I am a cousin of Dave and Deb Barton in PNG (Wycliffe) and have been praying for all of you ever since Deb posted about Jon’s accident. Our church body has been praying as well. It has been an encouragement to me to read of your attitude and mind of Christ through this fiery trial. It has been a great reminder to me to be content with whatever God has planned, even when it is hard, painful, or uncomfortable. God is being glorified around the world through your story, so even though you are facing a new and completely different normal as missionaries, God has provided an additonal mission field for you right in your hospital room by sharing your story. We will continue praying as you rehabilitate and adjust to this new journey God is laying out for you.

You two look like newlyweds. You have smiles that are so significant given your circumstances.
Your scriptures are an encourgement to all of us, not just yourselves.
Thank you for keeping all of us informed. Don’t forget about writing a book on your experience. The last page can have a picture of Jon flying for God again! That is our prayer, you know.

Lifting you and your family up in prayer today and each day that an update is posted. Thankful you are doing well, and that you are being able to be with your children. Praying that each day is a better one for you, Jon.

Thanks so much for keeping the updates coming. Praising God for what He is doing. When my oldest son passed away this year I shared at his Celebration of Life that I was so saddened to have to say goodbye to my son but I know He used me as the vessel to bring His child into this world. Obviously he had served his purpose here on earth. I will never understand but God’s ways are not my ways and He always has something so much better for us at the end of the rainbow. May you feel God’s love and grace as you go through this challenge in your lives. Always in my prayers. Bev

Thank you God that your mercy endures forever. Thank you God for keeping Jon and Addie together as a family in Australia and for the visits from there children. Thank you for sparing his life and even through this most difficult time thank you for the encouragement of your love shining through them as we see pictures of them in love with each other. Thank you for giving them strength and for life and for your love. Thank you for their commitment to you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

  14. Dear Join and Adie,

We are Bill and Lynette Cottam who worked with NTM PNG for 29 years in the Highlands. I have been sending your updates out to our 436 prayer warriors who are on email. They have been praying for you as have we. They have sent some lovely responses to us. Here is one of them: “Thank you so much for keeping me/us informed on Jon and Aide’s situation. Though I don’t correspond often, I have followed the path of this missionary family and have been praying for them as Jon goes through the operations and therapy. May the Lord continue to be honoured as He obviously is now. What a difficult path they’ve had to walk, yet what a testimony they’ve had in sharing honestly with others.”

You are an example to us all, Dear Ones, as you lean on the Lord through this trial.

God bless the five of you,

    Lynette

  15. Sorry I hit an extra key. I meant Jon of course not Join!
