Jon Leedahl Update – Oct. 30, 2014 @ 5:44 a.m. CT

Jonathan will have a difficult and complicated surgery sometime tomorrow morning on his foot. (Around 9 am Friday Cairns time, 6 pm Central Time.) Metal pins and a plate will be inserted to repair the crushed bonIMG_2352-0.JPGes and the dislocated mid-foot. It will be many weeks before he will be able to bear weight on that foot. No date has yet been set for the replacement and repair of his left knee ligaments.

We are pleased with the care his is receiving at Cairns Hospital. Jon’s stump is in the process of healing. He goes to physical therapy once a day, working on his upper body strength, as well as his right hip and thigh muscles. He continues on pain medication and tires easily. The outings he has made with family and friends to the nearby outdoor restaurants have been good for his spirits.

There is a lot of healing to be done in Jon’s body and more surgeries are ahead, but Jon continues to be at peace with his situation, fully trusting our Lord.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. It has been immensely encouraging.

“Make me hear joy and gladness, that the bones You have broken may rejoice … restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.” Psalms 51:8,12

Have kept you, Jon & Adie, plus your entire family (especially your kids, and parents) in our prayers since your sister Melody (our nephew Tommy’s wife) gave us the news of your accident. You are living out your faith bravely and God is blessed by your witness.

  13. I only know of you through the Beal family in Kavieng, but I’m going to the US for 2 weeks in mid November, then fly back to PNG via Cairns. Anything you would like me to bring back from the US for you? Your favourite sweets, biscuits or other comfort food/things? I’ll be shopping like mad over there anyway, so it will be easy to do. You can e-mail me on
Good luck with the surgery and speedy recovery.
