Jonathan will have a difficult and complicated surgery sometime tomorrow morning on his foot. (Around 9 am Friday Cairns time, 6 pm Central Time.) Metal pins and a plate will be inserted to repair the crushed bones and the dislocated mid-foot. It will be many weeks before he will be able to bear weight on that foot. No date has yet been set for the replacement and repair of his left knee ligaments.
We are pleased with the care his is receiving at Cairns Hospital. Jon’s stump is in the process of healing. He goes to physical therapy once a day, working on his upper body strength, as well as his right hip and thigh muscles. He continues on pain medication and tires easily. The outings he has made with family and friends to the nearby outdoor restaurants have been good for his spirits.
There is a lot of healing to be done in Jon’s body and more surgeries are ahead, but Jon continues to be at peace with his situation, fully trusting our Lord.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. It has been immensely encouraging.
